April 17, 2026 - Truth vs. Control

I don’t know who else is feeling this, but I am getting really tired of seeing and hearing politics pull religion down into something unrecognizable… and the hypocrisy that comes with it. It’s been weighing on my heart pretty heavy lately and I find it so disrespectful… and honestly, completely unacceptable at this stage of the game.

My faith has never called me to weaponize it. It’s called me to love loud, forgive more, and lead with grace… even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. But I also can’t ignore how often faith gets twisted… used for manipulation, control, and guided by voices that don’t reflect the heart of God. Not everyone who speaks loudly in His name is leading people closer to Him. And that matters. These AI images and quoting fake Bible verses are unreal. I simply can’t seem to shake how out of control it has gotten.

I’m a firm believer in faith and will not let the behavior of our administration question mine. I didn’t grow up in the Catholic Church, but I grew up knowing God. Louis and I were married in a Baptist church by my Grandpa Allen… who is a pastor… and that strong foundation has always been part of who I am.

Later, as adults, after moving to Iowa, I chose to join St. Joseph’s Church... the very church Louis had spent all of his life attending, outside of the time he lived in Indiana. I spent a year in RCIA classes with Fr. Peters, and Louis as my sponsor… learning, growing, and intentionally stepping into a deeper understanding of faith. Louis and I wanted to come together in a shared faith as we raised our family, and at that time, it felt like the right path for us.

No matter where I’ve been or what label is attached… my faith has always come back to this:

It’s not about standing above others… It’s about walking beside them… and I’ll choose that kind of faith every time… one rooted in truth, not manipulation… and led by love, not fear.
